BIT BY BIT IT

Reseda Homes and Shops Wired Right

Reseda is full of single-story ranch homes, many with several generations living under one roof and a garage that has become a bedroom or a workshop. That tells me a few things before I even arrive: there are a lot of devices, a lot of people online at once, and a house that was built before anyone thought about network cable.

Lots of devices, one router

Phones, TVs, game consoles, laptops for school and work. When all of them share a single old router, everything slows down in the evening. I start by checking what the router is, where it sits and what is connected. Often the fix is a better placement, a wired line to the TV or console, and an access point at the far end of the house. Sorting this out does not require tearing anything open.

Slab homes and attics

Most Reseda houses sit on concrete slabs, so cable has to come from the attic, down inside the wall. I fish it carefully and finish it at a clean jack. In a house with a low attic or blocked walls, I find a path along the garage or the eave and tell you what I picked.

Garage rooms and back units

A converted garage or a back unit often gets weak Wi-Fi. A cable from the main house to that room is the dependable fix. I can also set up a separate access point there.

Shops along Sherman Way and Reseda Boulevard

Small stores and service businesses need a stable connection for the register and cameras aimed at the door and parking lot. I set up the network, mount the cameras and make sure the recorder keeps footage.

Computers too

If a laptop or a desktop has gotten slow, will not boot or throws errors, I take a look at that as well. A lot of what feels like a bad internet connection is a computer problem.

Reseda is a short drive west of Van Nuys. Ask for a walkthrough and I will come out.

What I do in Reseda

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
