BIT BY BIT IT

Wired Coverage for Tarzana Homes

Tarzana is mostly a place of large lots. Ranch houses sit back from the street behind long driveways, and many have pools, detached garages and back-house units. The questions on a property like this are about coverage: how do I see the whole lot, and how do I get a signal to the back.

Cameras for the whole lot

On a large property, a camera by the front door is not enough. I look at the gates, the side yards, the garage and the fence line along the back. Wired cameras give a steady picture with no battery to replace, and I run the cable through the attic or along the eave to a recorder inside the house. Then I show you the phone app and how to find a clip.

Wi-Fi that reaches the back house

If you have a guest unit or a studio behind the pool, a router in the main house probably does not reach it. When the distance allows, I run direct-burial cable or a conduit path to a wired access point out there. If it does not, I look at a point-to-point link. Either way the back house gets a real connection and not a weak bar.

Hills and older construction

Streets north of Ventura Boulevard are flat, and those homes are often 1950s and 1960s ranch houses with slab floors and attics I can work through. South of Ventura, up toward the Santa Monica Mountains, the houses are bigger and built on slopes. Plaster and stucco in older homes absorb Wi-Fi, so I place access points by room, not by guess.

Home offices and the boulevard

Plenty of people in Tarzana work from home. I wire the office so calls do not stall, and I can add a printer, a small storage box or a second desk to the same setup. Small offices on Ventura Boulevard get the same sort of plan with a camera on the door.

Tarzana is a drive west of Van Nuys, with Reseda Boulevard as an easy landmark. Call or message and I will schedule a walkthrough.

What I do in Tarzana

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
