Hollywood Apartments, Hills and Small Studios
Hollywood is a dense place with a lot of renters, and that is the first thing that shapes my advice. Many people here live in older apartment buildings, courtyard complexes and converted houses, where drilling into a wall is not an option and the landlord’s router is a mystery box.
Renting without drilling
If you rent, I start with what you can change without a deposit risk. A better router in a better place often fixes more than people expect. After that, I can run slim cable along baseboards and door frames, or set up a second access point on a short wired run. If something needs the landlord’s permission, I tell you what to ask for, in plain words.
Hills above Sunset
In the Hollywood Hills, the houses are a different story: narrow lots, several levels, and decks over steep drops. Wi-Fi in a three-level hillside home needs an access point per floor, wired back to one spot. Camera coverage matters here too, with steps, gates and a street that can be hard to see from inside.
Small studios and creative spaces
Hollywood has plenty of small recording rooms, edit bays, podcast studios and production offices. These spaces want a quiet, wired network, a switch that can handle large files and a place for storage. I set that up and label each cable.
Storefronts
Along Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards, small shops, bars and offices need cameras and networks that survive late hours. I place cameras at the entrance and any rear door, and I check the view after dark.
From the Valley
Hollywood is over the hill from Van Nuys, usually by way of Cahuenga Pass or Laurel Canyon. Parking and loading can be tricky, so I plan visits for that. Call or write and tell me about your building.
What I do in Hollywood
Wi-Fi coverage
Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.
Security cameras
Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.
Ethernet wiring
I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.
Servers and network gear
Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.
Laptop and PC repair
A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.
Network troubleshooting
Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.
