Big Houses, Solid Networks in Encino

Encino homes tend to be large, and that is the first thing I think about. A single router cannot cover a two-story house with a guesthouse, a pool house and a three-car garage. The signal fades long before it reaches the far end of the lot.

Covering a large property

For a big house, I start with the Wi-Fi plan, not the router. I decide where wired access points should go so every floor and the back patio get a good signal, then run cable to each one. A detached guesthouse or studio gets its own cable if the distance allows, or a point-to-point link if it does not. Everything comes back to one rack or shelf so you can find it later.

Cameras fit the same thinking. A big lot has long fences, side yards and a driveway gate. I choose wired cameras that cover the approaches and the entry points, and I set up a recorder that keeps footage so you can pull it up on your phone.

Hills and older homes

South of Ventura the land rises toward Encino Hills, and some of those homes sit on hillsides with several levels. North of the boulevard you find older ranch houses and some Spanish-style homes with thick plaster walls. Plaster and wire lath block Wi-Fi badly, which is one more reason I prefer to put access points in the rooms people use and wire them.

Offices on Ventura

There are many small professional offices along Ventura Boulevard. A small office usually needs a router, a switch, reliable Wi-Fi and a spot for a printer or a small server. I set that up cleanly and show you how to find each piece.

If you are on the other side of the 405 from me, it is still a short drive. Ask for a walkthrough and I will come look at the property with you.

What I do in Encino

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
