Cameras and Coverage in Granada Hills

Granada Hills is a family neighborhood on the north side of the Valley, with plenty of well-kept houses on wide streets and lots that back onto slopes. People here tend to ask me about security cameras first, and about the Wi-Fi second.

Cameras on residential streets

Most homes have a front door, a driveway, a side gate and a back yard. I plan the camera positions by walking those routes and asking where you notice problems: packages left on the porch, a gate that does not latch, a dark side yard. Wired cameras give a steady picture, with cables run through the attic and the eave to a recorder that stays inside the house.

Houses on the slopes

Houses toward the foothills, closer to the Santa Susana Mountains, sit on larger lots with more levels. A house with a downstairs den and an upstairs bedroom wing needs access points on both floors. Getting cable between them might mean using a closet, a utility chase or the garage. I check before I promise anything.

Tract homes with attics

Many Granada Hills houses were built in the 1960s and 1970s as part of larger tracts. They usually have an attic with workable space and walls that are easy to drop cable through. That makes a full wired setup a fairly clean job, and I finish each run with a plate on the wall and test it with you in the room.

Homes with older equipment

Plenty of houses end up with a provider router from years ago, extenders plugged in at random and a Wi-Fi name no one can recall. I clear that up, set a single network, and write down the passwords.

It is a drive north from Van Nuys, up Balboa Boulevard. Call or write and I will come out for a walkthrough.

What I do in Granada Hills

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
