BIT BY BIT IT

Chatsworth Properties Covered Properly

Chatsworth feels more spread out than most of the Valley. There are houses on large lots with horse corrals and outbuildings, hillside homes up toward the Santa Susana Pass, and business parks with warehouses and small offices.

Large lots and outbuildings

A property with a main house, a barn, a workshop and a long driveway needs a plan, not a single camera. I walk the lot with you, mark where cameras would see the gate, the driveway and the outbuildings, and work out how cable can get to each. Long runs may go through conduit, and where the distance is too far for a cable, I look at a wireless link. A recorder inside the house keeps the footage.

Wi-Fi across the property

If the router is in the kitchen and you want a signal at the shop, I set up wired access points at the house and the outbuilding. It is a better answer than more extenders, since each point has its own cable back to the network.

Hillside homes

Houses in the rocky hills near the pass often have unusual shapes and multiple levels. Plaster and stucco walls are common. I find paths through the attic and sub-floor where they exist, and I explain any limits before you pay for anything.

Business parks and warehouses

Around Devonshire Street and the industrial areas, small companies often need a rack, a switch, a few wired desks and cameras at the loading door. I install gear neatly, document what plugs where and set up a server or storage when it makes sense.

Planning the trip

Chatsworth is a good drive northwest of Van Nuys, near the edge of the Valley. I schedule visits so the walkthrough covers the whole property in one trip.

If you have a big property, write and tell me what you want to cover.

What I do in Chatsworth

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
