BIT BY BIT IT

Echo Park Bungalows and Small Shops

Echo Park is packed tight. Bungalows share narrow streets with old Victorians in Angelino Heights, hillside stairs connect streets that cannot connect any other way, and small buildings are stacked on top of each other. That density shapes what works.

Small homes, thick neighbors

Many houses and duplexes here are 700 to 1,200 square feet or so. They do not need much cable, but the cable they do need has to be in the right place. In a small bungalow, one access point in the right spot plus a wired line to the desk or the TV can solve most complaints. I do not sell more gear than the house needs.

Victorians and old wood-frame houses

Angelino Heights has some of the oldest wood-frame houses in the city. Tall ceilings, plaster and tight stud spaces make for tricky runs. I look at what is already there, stay out of anything that is historic detail and tell you what’s possible.

Stairs, walls and gates

The hillside streets have stairs, retaining walls and blind corners. A camera on the stair landing or the carport covers more than a camera on the street. I walk the property before choosing positions.

Echo Park Lake and Sunset

Shops, restaurants and small offices around Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue depend on a reliable register and a view of the entrance. I set up the router and switch properly, add cameras and label the cables. Space is tight in these buildings, so I keep gear small and out of the way.

Interference in dense blocks

In a block where every unit has its own router, Wi-Fi gets crowded. I look at the channels, move the router and wire what can be wired. That cuts more drop-outs than buying a faster plan.

East of Hollywood

Echo Park is a drive from Van Nuys to the east, near downtown. Message me, and I will set up a walkthrough.

What I do in Echo Park

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
