BIT BY BIT IT

Larger Arcadia Homes, Properly Wired

Arcadia has many big houses. Some are newly built two-story homes that replaced older ranches. Others are older homes in the foothill streets north of Foothill Boulevard. A lot of them share one trait, which is a router tucked in a closet that cannot reach the far corners of the building.

New builds and big floor plans

When a house is rebuilt, the wiring is the one thing that is cheap to do early and expensive to add later. If you are still in framing or just finished, I can plan cable runs and access point positions before the walls are closed or soon after. If the house is already finished, I use the attic and the garage to get to the rooms that matter. Large homes usually need two or three wired access points, plus a wired line to the home office and the media room.

Older ranch homes

Away from the rebuilt lots, there are mid-century ranch houses on slabs. Cable comes down from the attic inside the wall. Stucco exteriors and plaster interiors weaken Wi-Fi, so I put access points by room instead of trying to blast signal from one place.

Cameras for lots with gates

Many properties have a front gate, a long driveway and a high wall. I plan wired cameras for the gate, the driveway, the garage and the sides. I adjust the angles after dark so they pick up faces and plates, not glare.

Work from home

People in Arcadia often run a business from the house. A reliable wired line to the office, a place for the equipment and a clean setup for a printer or a small server go a long way.

Near Santa Anita

Arcadia is a long drive east from Van Nuys, near Santa Anita Park and the foothills. Message me, and I will set up a walkthrough.

What I do in Arcadia

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
