Discreet Network Wiring in San Marino

San Marino is a quiet residential city with large, mature properties, many built in the 1920s through the 1950s. Streets near Lacy Park and Huntington Drive are lined with Spanish, Tudor and traditional two-story houses on deep lots. Those houses were built with plaster, wood and tile, and they are not forgiving to cable.

Work that does not show

People with homes like these care about how things look, and they should. I focus on running cable where no one will see it: the attic, the closets, the garage and any chases the original builders left. Wall plates match the existing finish as closely as I can. If a run would cause damage to a fine plaster wall or a decorative ceiling, I tell you and we pick another route, even if that means one less outlet.

Big old houses, small signal

A large Spanish or Tudor home with thick walls is an awkward place for Wi-Fi. One router near the front door will not reach the family room at the back, or the room over the garage. I place wired access points on each floor and in outlying rooms, cable them back to a single spot and label everything.

Cameras that fit the property

Front gates, long driveways and a lot of hedges mean cameras need careful placement. I choose spots that cover the gates and approach, and I keep the hardware low-profile. Recording happens in the house on a drive that you can reach.

Guest houses and offices

Many properties have a guest house, a pool house or a study that works as an office. I run a cable to each one when the path is workable, and I use a wireless link when it is not.

Near the Huntington

San Marino is a long drive east from Van Nuys, close to Pasadena and the Huntington. Write to me about your house, and we can set up a walkthrough.

What I do in San Marino

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.
