Alhambra Shops, Offices and Stucco Homes

Alhambra has an unusual density of small businesses for its size. Main Street and Valley Boulevard are lined with restaurants, bakeries, dental and medical offices, tutoring centers and independent shops, many in older one- and two-story buildings. That shapes the work.

Storefronts that never really close

A restaurant or a shop with long hours cannot afford a network that drops. I set up a router and switch that are properly mounted, not left on a counter, and I run wired connections to the register, the printer and the office computer. Cameras cover the entrance, the counter and the back door. I make sure the recorder keeps footage and that you can open it on your phone without calling anyone.

Older commercial buildings often have a drop ceiling and a block or brick back wall. Cable usually goes above the tiles and along the roof framing. I label both ends of each run, and I leave you a simple list of what plugs into what.

Stucco houses and detached garages

Many Alhambra homes are single-story stucco houses from the 1920s through the 1950s, a lot of them with a detached garage and a back unit. Plaster walls slow Wi-Fi, so I place wired access points in the rooms that need them. For the garage or the unit in back, a cable run in conduit is the dependable approach if the distance allows.

Multi-generational households

It is common to have several adults and kids in one house, all online at once. The cheapest fix is often moving the router and wiring the TV and the main desk. I start there before suggesting anything bigger.

Computers and printers

Small offices here run on a handful of PCs and a shared printer. When one of them goes slow or will not connect, I look at the machine and the network together.

Out east past downtown

Alhambra is a long way east of Van Nuys, past downtown. I plan visits so the walkthrough covers everything in one trip. Call or message and tell me what kind of space it is.

What I do in Alhambra

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
