El Monte Warehouses, Offices and Homes

El Monte has a large industrial and commercial base. Warehouses, small factories, distribution offices and auto businesses sit near the freeways and the Rio Hondo, and there are neighborhoods of family homes between them.

Warehouses and light industrial

A warehouse office usually has a handful of desks, a printer, a shipping station and a handful of cameras. The difficulty is distance. The office might be at one end and the loading doors at the other, with metal walls and tall ceilings in between. I plan cable along the roof structure, use a switch at each end of a long run, and place access points where the work happens. For cameras, I focus on the loading doors, the yard and the gate, and I make sure the recorder is in a lockable spot.

Servers and shared files

Small companies here often keep their files on one old PC that everyone depends on. I set up a proper server or network storage with a backup, and explain how it works so you do not depend on a single machine that might fail.

Troubleshooting

When the network is slow, I do not guess. I check the cable, the switch, the router and what is connected, and test from the wall. Sometimes it turns out to be a single device flooding the network, or an old switch that needs replacing.

Family homes

El Monte homes are mostly single-story stucco ranches from the mid-twentieth century. I work from the attic and run cable down inside the wall to clean jacks. A wired access point at the far end of the house is usually the best improvement.

Planning the visit

El Monte is a long drive east of Van Nuys, past downtown. I plan the visit so the walkthrough takes in the whole space. Call or write and tell me what the building is.

What I do in El Monte

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

I come out, look at the space, and you show me where you want connections and cameras.

  2. Plan and quote

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
