BIT BY BIT IT

South Pasadena Homes and Storefronts

South Pasadena is compact, with tree-lined streets, older houses and a walkable shopping street along Mission Street. Most of what I would do here involves working carefully inside homes that were built long before anyone ran network cable.

Craftsman and Spanish revival houses

Many homes were built in the 1910s through the 1930s. Those houses have plaster walls, wood trim worth preserving and attics with low clearance. I pick cable paths that do not damage the finish, and I use closets, the garage and the basement where there is one. If a particular room has no workable route, I say so before I quote, and I suggest a way to cover it with an access point nearby.

Hills and Monterey Hills homes

The hills on the south side of town have more modern houses with several levels and steep driveways. Two or three floors means separate access points and a plan for how they are cabled. Cameras at the driveway and the street entry help in these houses.

Mission Street and Fair Oaks

Small restaurants, boutiques and offices operate in older commercial buildings with brick walls and tight ceilings. I set up the router, switch and wireless so they stay stable, and mount cameras on the entrance and back door.

Condos and small apartment buildings

South Pasadena also has smaller apartment and condo buildings. I check what the building rules allow before I plan. A tidy set of baseboard runs and a better router often help a lot.

Home offices

Plenty of South Pasadena residents work from home, and some of them need a dedicated line for video calls or a place to store large files. I wire the desk and set up any storage you need.

The long way east

South Pasadena is a long drive east of Van Nuys, out along the 134 and then the 110. Send a note and we can arrange a walkthrough.

What I do in South Pasadena

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

How a job goes

  1. Walkthrough

You get a clear plan of what goes where and a price before any work starts.

  3. Install

Cable gets run, gear gets mounted, and everything is tested room by room.

  4. Hand-off

Before I leave, I show you how to use the camera app, the Wi-Fi and anything else I set up.
