Home Networks in Valley Village

Valley Village is a quiet residential pocket, and most of my work here would be inside the home. Streets lined with small stucco houses, duplexes and low-rise apartment buildings give you rooms that are closer together than in other parts of the Valley, but walls can still hurt a signal.

Small houses, thick walls

In older stucco homes with plaster walls, one Wi-Fi router in the living room often leaves the bedrooms weak. I usually fix that by moving the router to a better spot and adding a wired access point at the other end of the house. Cable goes through the attic or the garage wall to a clean jack. The job is small, and the difference is large.

Duplexes and apartments

If you rent, you may not be able to open walls. In that case I look for neat ways to run cable along baseboards and door frames, or I suggest a layout that works with what the building already has. I will not put a hole in a landlord’s wall without permission, and I can tell you which options need a quick conversation first.

Internet that keeps dropping

When a connection keeps cutting out, the cause can be a tired router, a bad cable, or a line problem outside the house. I check each in turn, test at the wall and at the modem, and tell you what I find. If the problem sits with your provider, I give you what you need to say when you call them.

Working from home

A lot of people here work from a bedroom or dining table. A wired line to your desk is steady for calls, and I can add a second one for a printer or a media box.

Valley Village is a short drive from Van Nuys, just off Magnolia Boulevard. Message me and we can set up a walkthrough.

What I do in Valley Village

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.
