BIT BY BIT IT

West Covina Tract Homes Wired for Real

West Covina is suburban in the classic sense. Streets of tract homes built from the 1950s into the 1970s, cul-de-sacs, two-car garages, and shopping centers along Glendora Avenue and Azusa Avenue. For this kind of house, my work is very practical.

Tract houses with workable attics

Most homes in a tract have the same floor plan as the ones on either side of them, and most of them have attic space I can use. That makes whole-house wiring a clean job. I run ethernet from the attic down inside the walls to the rooms you pick, with a plate at each spot, and bring everything back to a central point in the garage or a hall closet. Living room TV, home office, game console and the spare bedroom are the usual targets.

Split levels and two-story homes

The tract homes include split-levels and two-story models, where the second floor gets a weak signal. A wired access point upstairs solves most of that, and the cable can often follow a closet from the attic to the lower floor.

Backyards and side gates

Many lots are on slopes or have wide back yards. A camera on the front door and one on the driveway is a start. I add the back yard and the side gate if you want them, and I set up the app on your phone before I leave.

Shopping centers and small offices

Stores and offices in the strip centers need stable connections and cameras on the entrance. I set up a router, switch and access points properly and label the work.

Aging equipment

Houses that have been on the same provider for years often have an old router and extenders stacked on each other. I replace that with one network that works the same way in every room.

Past El Monte

West Covina is a long drive east of Van Nuys, past El Monte. Write or call and I will arrange a walkthrough.

What I do in West Covina

  • Ethernet wiring

I pull cable through the walls and attic to the rooms you pick, finish it at clean wall jacks, and bring every run back to one central spot.

  • Wi-Fi coverage

Access points wired back to your network so the signal reaches the rooms that used to be dead zones.

  • Security cameras

Wired cameras mounted where they cover what matters, a recorder set up to keep footage, and viewing on your phone.

  • Servers and network gear

Racks, switches, routers and home or office servers installed, configured and cabled neatly.

  • Laptop and PC repair

A computer that's slow, won't start, throws errors, or just isn't acting right. I'll track down what's wrong and get it running again.

  • Network troubleshooting

Internet that crawls, devices that keep dropping off, or a setup someone else left behind. I'll find the problem and fix it.
